Allan D. Solheim is executive vice president of Karsten Mfg. Corporation. Karsten is most famous for its custom-fit, custom-built PING golf clubs, which are best sellers at leading pro shops in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Karsten Manufacturing and its related businesses is one of Arizona's largest family-owned companies, with more than 40 years of innovation in manufacturing in the golf equipment industry. The company is a past recipient of the Arizona Association of Industries Manufacturer of the Year Award.
Allan serves on the advisory boards of the Banner Health Foundation and St. Mary's Food Bank. He is a member of the Arizona District Export Council. In 1990, Allan was recipient of the Distinuished Citizen Award by the University of Arizona in Tucson. That same year, by order of the King of Norway, Allan was named Honorary Consul of Norway for the State of Arizona. In 2002, he was give the high honor of being awarded the Order of Merit-Knight for his service to Norway.
Allan's father, Karsten Solheim, was born in Bergen, Norway and passed away three years ago. He was the founder of PING golf clubs.
Allan owns two diatonic Button Boxes, both of which he purchased in Norway. He originally became interested in the piano accordion when one was given to him by his stepfather-in-law, but prefers to play the chromatic version.
Allan plays golf to a 12-handicap at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix. He and his wife, Joan, raise miniature horses at their home-ranch in Moon Valley, and like to spend their weekends at their Flagstaff, Arizona home along with their three children and eight grandchildren.
